Susan Hibbard has worked in marketing and communications for more than 13 years. With a background in public relations, marketing and communications, she’s worked in a variety of industries, including healthcare, and telecommunications and local and federal government, in a variety of roles. Susan is the publication editor for TravelNursing.com. She earned her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Western Ontario’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Claire Brocato, Managing Editor
Claire Brocato, who graduated from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University with a degree in communications, worked as an editor of a national magazine in her home country of South Africa before moving to the United States in 1995. She worked as a copywriter and technical editor for two Southern California-based companies before joining the TravelNursing.com team in early 2003 as a staff writer, and subsequently worked as a marketing project specialist before being promoted to the position of managing editor in March 2008.
Amanda Sounart, Associate Editor
Amanda Sounart has a background in public relations, copywriting and marketing. She has worked in several industries including publishing, residential development, hospitality and healthcare and has previously owned her own business as a marketing copywriter. Her work has been featured in several publications including San Diego Magazine, 944, Max Sport and Fitness and Shape. Amanda joined the TravelNursing.com team in 2007 and covers nursing news and feature stories. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and English.
Melissa Wirkus, Associate Editor With a background in writing, publishing and marketing, Melissa Wirkus has worked in the field of marketing communications since graduating cum laude from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Melissa joined the TravelNursing.com team in 2007 as an associate editor, where she develops content across the site. A member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Melissa has spent her professional career writing for both local and national websites, magazines and newspapers.
David Sindel, Staff Writer Diversity is the word that could best be used to describe the writing career of David Sindel. He has worked for more than 20 years at a variety of Southern California advertising agencies and marketing groups, handling a wide range of writing projects (including copywriting, public relations, and feature articles) for client rosters that have included retail, financial, restaurants, real estate, professional sports, automotive, irrigation and…healthcare. A San Diego State University graduate with a degree in Journalism/Advertising, David joined the TravelNursing.com team in November 2007 as a feature writer.
Tina Valle, Staff Writer Tina Valle has worked in marketing communications since graduating from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She began her career as a proposal writer for a civil engineering firm in Southern California. Since then, Tina earned a master’s degree in Communications at Drury University and has continued her marketing career in various industries, including broadcast media and telecommunications. She joined the TravelNursing.com team in June 2008 as a staff writer and content specialist.
Todd Armstrong, Web Specialist Todd Armstrong has over 10 years experience in Internet development, graphic design and new media. Todd helps maintain and program the website while also looking for new technologies to help the site grow for its users. He also provides technical support to the TravelNursing.com team.
