I like to stay current in my practice. If I'm busy doing travel nursing, do you think I might get behind on the latest information?

Actually, I have found the opposite to be true.  Sometimes when you are a permanent employee at one facility, there is a tendency to get complacent.  Facilities tend to do things one way and it’s difficult to make changes.

Stepping outside of your current surrounding and seeing things done differently helps you stay current and question your own practice.  You will find yourself checking into the differences you see.  Before long, you will be more knowledgeable than many other people who only see things done their way.  You will be able to talk from the knowledge of what you have looked up as well as the experience of what you have seen and experienced as a travel nurse.

Nurses who have traveled a lot and have learned to apply their knowledge confirm that it can be very valuable to facilities they go to.  Sometimes, they can teach the facilities a new clinical practice or technique.  Without a doubt, you will walk away from each assignment learning something new—whether it is an innovative clinical technique, skill or piece of nursing industry information.
